Still Photo

What are the steps for creating a still photo of one frame from a video on iMovie?
Please give steps in terms of menus and options to be chosen.
In versions earlier than iMovieHD ‘08, with the video in the timeline, get the video head to the frame you want. Then you have two choices:
1) Under File, select “Create Still Image”. A dialog box will open so you can name the still and select the file type to store – JPEG is best.
2) Under Edit, select “Create Still Frame”. A five second still clip will be saved to the Clips area of th the iMovie project window. You can use this in the timeline. If you need longer than 5 seconds, copy/paste as many 5-second clips as you need. If you need shorter than 5 seconds, just cut that clip to the size you need.
But you did not tell us which version of iMovie you are using. Versions ‘08 and ‘09 may be different – especially since they don’t use the “clips” area any more (it is called the Log & Capture area)…
Warning: Creating a still photo from video generally does not provide a good still photo unless the video recording was done with the camcorder shutter setting at something higher than the default 1/60th speed. Typically, stills from consumer camcorders set at this deault are blurry when there is motion in the frame.

Greatest Hits $7.91 Bob Seger has racked up a lot of worthy tracks over the years, but it took until 1994 for a greatest hits package to appear. VoilĂ . The bad news: We’re missing an awful lot of songs here. Night Moves is Seger’s crit-pick album, and a great place to start if you don’t have any Seger at all. Next in the rankings is Stranger in Town. Otherwise, his highs are pretty scattered, which would make any be… |

Learn To Live $9.02 As the lead singer and co-writer for Hootie & the Blowfish, Darius Rucker always eschewed overt R & B, and fixed the band’s music in roots rock. Now on this solo album, Learn to Live, he immerses himself in the typical Nashville themes of home, hearth, and spirituality, with varying results. His sturdy baritone knows how to carry these messages, and he displays an ease with country phrasing…. |

Moondance $5.42 Van Morrison went a long way towards defining his wild Irish heart with his first two classic albums: the brooding, introspective Astral Weeks (1968), and the expansive, swinging Moondance. If the first was the work of a poet, its sequel was the statement of a musician and bandleader. Moondance is that rare rock album where the band has buffed the arrangements to perfection, and where the sax solo… |
